10 things to watch for when traveling during COVID 19

Traveling is one of the funnest things to. More people are traveling because of lower airfares to destinations near and far,  which was unthinkable in the past.

During the pandemic the test requirements for COVID changes from one month to the next. This makes passengers get stranded at the airports or even lose fights.

The third party tickets are cheaper to buy but cannot be rebooked or changed for later flights. This means you have lost the ticket.

To avoid these situations follow these guidelines carefully until the last minute of the flight.

Masks are mandatory

Carry a couple masks as some airport s require double masks.

Face shield

Some airport want you to wear a mask and a face shield. Airlines have refused passengers for not carrying one based on the destination.

A negative test

Just because you have a negative test does not mean, it’s a go! Some countries may have changed from an Antigen test to a PCR. Whether you have the vaccine or not, it is irrelevant.

This information sometimes is not available until you are at the airline counter to check in.

Mask wearing

Masks wearing is mandatory on all fights and at  all airports.

Health Affidavit

Certain countries in South America require a Health Affidavit to be registered with your passport information. This can only be done 72 hours prior. Carry  a printed copy.

Prior to check-in

You are unable check in to get your boarding pass online as the airlines would want to verify these documents. However you may choose your seats online.

Information on these topics

It is impossible to get up to date requirements until the day of the flight as the websites don’t get updated on a timely manner.

Airline Employees

When it comes to these protocols, airlines take it very seriously. There is no explanation that will suit an employee to let you in.

Purchasing tickets

Under these circumstances it would be wiser to buy your tickets on the airline website rather than from a travel site. Those tickets cannot be rescheduled should anything were to happen.

Verify until the last minute

Before the day of the flight verify for changes in protocols. You are allowed to check in 24 hours prior to your flight, with some airlines 48 hours. There you will be able to see the required up to date information.  Including the health affidavit sites for the specific countries.

Returning to the USA requires a a Negative Antigen test and  a Passenger Disclosure and Attestation filled by you and signed. This could be googled. But have a printed copy as originating airports will want it.

A test at an airport could cost you around $100 to $200. If you go to the airport at the last minute, you may not have time to get a test. Strangely enough more people are traveling now. Allow plenty of time for the unexpected delays and security check.

CDC informs under Travel Health  Notices  various travel advisories to travellers. They have no specific on the countries travel requirements other than if it is safe travel or the conditions there.
